Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball sophomore Jean Luc Wilson (East Moline, Ill./United Township) was voted by coaches to the All-Region IV Division II team after a season that saw him finish among the leading scorers in the country.
A 6-foot-3 guard, Wilson averaged a team-leading 21.4 points per game for the Chargers during the 2021 season. That figure was also second among all Region IV players and eighth in NJCAA Division II.
Wilson also led Sandburg in rebounding at 5.8 boards per game — good for eighth in the region — as well as steals at 2.1 per contest. He averaged 2.9 assists per game and shot 45.3 percent from the field, 31 percent from 3-point range and 78 percent at the free-throw line.
Wilson scored at least 24 points in four of the Chargers’ eight contests, including a pair of 30-point performances. He scored a career-high 33 points on 14-for-22 shooting March 4 at Highland, and he dropped 31 points while going 12 of 21 from the field March 20 at South Suburban.
